Why Blog? Blogging has become a vital SEO tool in online marketing.

I was watching a silly teen movie with my kids the other day. It was about a girl’s blog. All she wrote about was her high school drama. In years gone by, people thought of blogging as a way for young people to get attention, using phrases such as “I was like…and then he was like…and then we were like…and then they were like, etc.” In today’s world, keeping a blog is about much more than a 15-year-old girl trying to share her feelings with anyone who cares to read what she has to say. Blogging is now a vital tool for business, and here are some reasons why:
- Drives traffic and search engine optimization. Most companies don’t really have that many pages on their websites. And the pages they do have don’t get updated often enough. I mean how many times can you update your “Contact Us” page? On the other hand, every time you write a blog article another indexed page is added to your website. This helps search engines like Google and Bing determine that your website is active and should be checked often for fresh content they should highlight. It also helps you be discovered through social media. Every time you post an article you can then share that content through your social media pages and point them back to your website, thereby driving new traffic to your site.
- Converts traffic to leads. Using informative blog articles helps to keep visitors coming to your website. Many bloggers create calls to action at the end of their articles. These usually consist of a free offer, e.g. free consultation, e-book, fact sheet, infographic, etc. With intriguing content, visitors are motivated to exchange their information to receive a free offer.
- Makes your company seem personable. Communication is key in any relationship – business or personal. People like to be connected with and engaged by your content. Updating new products, news, charity involvement, etc. shows them that real, genuine people work at your company, making your organization “come to life” and validates you as an authority in your field. Posting on a regular basis gives visitors a reason to come back and interact with you and your business.
